PGI (Pharmascience Global Injectables) : Pharmascience's Newest Division

The acquisition of Uman Pharma in November 2014 marked the beginning of Pharmascience's entry into the area of injectable products. Located in a site successfully audited by the FDA multiple times, Pharmascience Global Injectables (PGI) became the company's 4th Business Unit whose focus is the development of the United States market as a supplier of injectable and solid dosage pharmaceutical products.

Additionally, PGI supports Pharmascience Canada and PendoPharm in their goal for establishing Pharmascience as a major player in the hospital market in Canada. Finally, the fourth division will collaborate closely with PSI to enhance the supply of injectable products on international markets.

Post by Admin Sat Jun 11, 2016 10:26 pm

PGI is developing an extensive portfolio of oncology and complex formulations, with a particular emphasis on Pre-Filled Syringes. Consolidating the injectable products manufacturing plant in Candiac with the group currently located in Abrams will establish one of the major corporate facilities in North America specializing in the formulation and development of injectable and solid dosage products.

PGI : Pharmascience's newest division Empty What is the Importance of the US Expansion ?

Post by Admin Sat Jun 11, 2016 10:28 pm

One of PGI's main objectives, which represents an important part of Pharmascience's diversification strategy, is penetrating the US generic market.

Why is it important?

In short, it is simply because the US generic market is projected to reach $85B by year 2020 and at the moment, we are not in a position to take advantage of this. In addition, solid dosage products and injectables represent more than 50% of the same generic market and are also two sectors where we have undeniable expertise. In the long term, manufacturing costs for the entire organization will be reduced, as we will be able to negotiate better terms for purchasing of API and produce larger batches that will, in turn, create economies of scale. This will have a direct impact on our competitive position in Canada and in an environment where manufacturing costs are becoming a strategic issue related to product success and the success of the business as a whole.

PGI : Pharmascience's newest division Empty Looking ahead in 2017

Post by Admin Sat Jun 11, 2016 10:29 pm

FY2016 was a year of change with the integration of PGI as the 4th Business Unit, the preparation of an Action Plan for entry into the US market, and the development of an injectable product portfolio. FY2017 will be even more exciting as we proceed with the implementation of our US plan including the launch of Decitabine and Busulfan in the US market, Pharmascience's first two products approved by the FDA. The new year will also see PMS first FDA submissions for solid dosage products.

The PGI team is looking forward to meeting you and share their vision, experience and expertise. It is with great enthusiasm that we meet and get to know our colleagues in Pharmascience and learn more about their expertise.
